We’d be lying if we said that Thanksgiving wasn’t one of our most favorite times of year. Admittedly the holiday is all about eating and, while we’re being honest, we’re not thinking about the turkey. We’ve got our mind set on a variety of different traditional Thanksgiving desserts – pumpkin pie, pecan pie and apple pie, to name a few. While no table is complete without one or all of the above, we know that other types of desserts follow turkey and stuffing just as well, particularly cookies!
For this Thanksgiving, we have a number of comforting flavors to round off all turkey (or veggie!) feasts:

Snickerdoodles - cinnamon goodness. What could be better?
Pumpkin Pecan Cake Bars - a combo of our two favorites! Pumpkin pie and pecan pie, in bar form!
Oatmeal Raisin OR Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies: oatmeal is the ultimate comfort food and we’ve got two ways to indulge! Either with raisins (an American classic) or with chocolate chips and pecans (a wonderful alternative for those who don’t care for raisins).
{NEW} Browned Butter Brown Sugar Cookies: a cookie that has just made it onto on our menu for the winter! A cookie rich with cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of maple flavor that goes beautifully with milk, tea and coffee at the end of a meal.
Which gets your Thanksgiving nod of approval?

We’re hard core bakers but this makes us want to dive into savory too! How beautiful does all this food look?! Of course, we’re partial to the chocolate finish. A wonderful video promoting Laura Santtini’s cookbook “Flash Cooking: Fit, Fast, Flavours for Busy People”. Ordering immediately!

We had a wonderful time preparing loads of Halloween treats for a 4 year old’s birthday party last weekend! Even though Halloween had just passed, she wanted to keep the festivity going with ghoul-inspired cookies and cupcakes. Above are the mini pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies we prepared and apparently, the little ones went nuts for them!
Next up? December Holiday Cookies and the Winter flavor! Stay tuned….

Wishing everyone a very spectacularly spooky and delicious Halloween!!

Well, Design Mom has done it again. She has introduced us to a food blogger who wasn’t on our radar (how could that be?!) and posted a wonderful video! Not Without Salt is a wonderful site full of great, easy-to-follow sweet and savory recipes.
Skill precludes us from delving into the cake business – we leave that to Sugarplum Cake Shop and Sugar Daze – but we know a beautiful cake when we see one. Part of us wants to know what the cake tasted like BEFORE the fondant coating and the other part wants to try the finished product. Whichever piece you fancy, the video (below) is a fun tutorial on making a gourgeous gradient cake.
What do you think? Could you make it?
